My Experiment: Candle Making

Here I am again, trying something new—candle making.

With Christmas just around the corner, I wanted to create something meaningful for my friends and family. Instead of store-bought gifts, I dreamed of giving them something handmade and unique—something warm, personal, and full of love.

I bought a DIY candle-making kit and, as always, learned the process through a few YouTube videos. My theme was simple yet festive: pink heart designer shot-glass candles and Christmas tree candles.

I made tiny pink hearts with soy wax, layered white and shimmering pink wax in shot glasses, and sealed them with clear gel wax. For the Christmas tree candles, I poured green sequin soy wax into moulds and later painted them with touches of gold and red.

When the candles were finally ready, they turned out more beautiful than I expected. Each one felt like a small piece of Christmas—handmade, heartfelt, and made to be shared.

Tomorrow I am going to share this with my friends and family, lets hope they would love it.

My Experiment : Organic Soap Making

I’ve never really been someone who consciously tries to live an organic or chemical-free lifestyle. But recently, my skin told a different story. I started experiencing severe dryness that took a long time to heal, no matter what I tried.

When I finally visited a doctor, the advice was simple—switch to a non-chemical soap. While the suggestion made sense, the price didn’t. ₹120 for just 200 grams felt too expensive for something I’d be using every day. That’s when a small thought turned into curiosity, and curiosity turned into action—I decided to try making organic soap on my own.

As you probably know, I often turn to YouTube to learn new things, and this was no different. With excitement and a little nervousness, I began my first attempt: a carrot and beetroot goat milk soap with a seaweed loofah. Unfortunately, it didn’t go as planned. I added too much water while dissolving the purée, and the soap never hardened. It was disappointing, but also a lesson quietly teaching me patience.

I didn’t stop there.

The next attempt felt more confident. This time, I made a Manjistha goat milk soap, and to my relief, it turned out beautifully. I used a goat milk soap base blended with Manjistha, rice flour, coconut oil, castor oil, and a touch of rose essential oil. Using the double-boiling method, I carefully combined everything, and within four hours, the soap had set perfectly.

Using it for the first time was a surprisingly comforting experience. The soap doesn’t lather much, but it cleans really well. After my bath, my skin felt fresh, calm, and most importantly—free from that tight, dry feeling I had grown used to.

This small experiment taught me something meaningful. Sometimes, solutions don’t come from expensive products but from simple efforts and a willingness to learn. I’m now excited to experiment with other soap bases in the future, not just for my skin, but for the joy of creating something gentle and personal.

My Experiment : Resin Art Photo frame

Crafting memories with Resin art

I’m not sure how many people already know about resin art or have tried it themselves. But if you spend even a little time scrolling through Instagram these days, chances are you’ve come across this beautiful and fascinating art form.

I’ve always loved arts and crafts, so naturally, resin art caught my attention. Curious and excited, I decided to try it out. My very first attempt was a resin photo frame that I planned to gift to a friend. Sadly, it didn’t turn out the way I imagined. I made a lot of beginner mistakes and failed miserably. I never ended up gifting it, but I kept it with me—as a reminder that every failure is just a step toward learning.

Determined to do better, I enrolled in a three-day online course to understand the basics of resin art. Before I go any further into my experience, let me share what resin art actually is.

Resin is a non-toxic chemical that is mixed with a hardener and left to cure for about 24 hours. Once it hardens, it preserves whatever is placed inside it, turning simple ideas into lasting, customized keepsakes.

What I love most about resin art is how expressive it is. There are no limits—your creativity decides the outcome. The more thought and imagination you put in, the more meaningful and beautiful the final piece becomes.

Recently, I had the chance to create something truly special—a customized gift for my in-laws’ 72nd anniversary. I designed a personalized couple photo frame with decorative lights, pouring my heart into every detail. When I finally presented it to them, their happiness said it all. My husband was equally amazed, and that moment made every effort feel worthwhile.

We celebrated the occasion with a cake cutting, shared a lovely dinner, and spent the rest of the evening laughing and enjoying each other’s company. It was a simple yet unforgettable family moment—made even more special by a piece of art created with love.
